Renowned Biblical scholar, born in Tuscany, he was a part of the experts gathered by Michele Pellegri, later to become Cardinal of Turin, who instituted in that city the Chair for Ancient Christian Literature. There, Paolo Sacchi obtained the Chair of Biblical Philology, the first and only one of its kind in Italy, where he taught up till 1998. Now emeritus, he lives in Figline Valdarno, in the province of Florence.
Among his main responsibilities throughout his career in teaching and research, was his initiative in founding the Italian Association for the Study of Judaism. Sacchi also gave life to the Henoch Review, and he is the editor of the principle Italian edition of the Apocrypha of the Old Testament (UTET).
He is the author of numerous studies and essays. Among the his published books are: Storia del Secondo Tempio (History of the Second Era, from 1994), Gesù e la sua gente (Jesus and His People, from 2003), Ebraismo (Judaism, 2007), Tra giudaismo e cristianesimo (Between Judaism and Christianity, 2010).
